Mick turns blue for FORCE

A Dawlish man has dyed his hair, beard and eyebrows blue to raise money for FORCE.

Mick Brown, who has been having treatment for prostate cancer, has so far raised around £200 and more in pledges.

The 73-year-old’s makeover was carried out by Mel’s hairdressing salon on Brunswick Place in Dawlish.

His wife Gill Brown said: “[He] knocked me for six when he said that’s what he was going to do!

“He suddenly came up with this idea – dare I say it – out of the ‘blue’, he suddenly said I’ve got some hair dye here I’ve just ordered it.

“We went to RD&E for his treatment… they’ve been so good, so nice including wearing special masks with a little perspex bit in the middle [so that he can lip-read as he is hard of hearing].

“Because FORCE is a local cancer charity… we decided that they were probably the best people to try and raise a bit of money for.”

If you would like to donate, Mick and Gill Brown will be seated outside at a local cafe for a certain amount of time each day in Dawlish with a collection pot.

You can also get in touch online to donate via Paypal on Mick’s Facebook page here.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported Mick’s fundraising, as well as to Dawlish Nub News for sharing Mick’s story.
