Relaxation and Anxiety Management

We recognise that cancer causes stress and anxiety on top of what happens in everyday life and this can impact your physical and mental wellbeing.

Relaxation is a natural antidote to stress and our specialists can provide you with strategies and techniques to help you cope.

FORCE Cancer Charity offers a free four-session course to help patients, carers and bereaved individuals manage stress, using practical techniques for relaxation for calming the body and mind.

The programme covers understanding stress, using breathing techniques, managing anxiety and grounding techniques, with in-person sessions at our Exeter Support ad Information Centre.

The objectives of the course are:

•             Understand stress: Learn how your body and mind react to difficult situations

•             Learn coping tools: Discover practical ways to manage daily worries

•             Release physical tension: Practise easy body movements to let go of built-up stress

•             Build relaxation skills: Form healthy habits to help you feel calmer every day

Course Structure

Session 1: Understanding stress and anxiety

Session 2: Calming the mind with breathing and visuals

Session 3: Changing worry patterns

Session 4: Staying present and connected
