One day at a time
How do you do it?’ said night
How do you wake and shine?’
I keep it simple’ said light
One day at a time’

Annie Kerr, FORCE Cancer Charity’s Information Manager and an experienced nurse, is at the forefront of our campaign to make sure local people affected by cancer can still access the support they need.
She and her team are offering help, advice and information on the phone while our centres in Exeter, Okehampton, Tiverton and Honiton are closed during the Coronavirus pandemic.
She said today: “We have been really spoilt recently by the beautiful sunshine and sunsets. This is one I captured right at the beginning of social distancing measures from the top of Pennsylvania Road in Exeter.
“I also wanted to share the poem with you as it reinforces that the approach of taking one day at a time is often helpful when there is so much uncertainty ahead.
“The poem was shared while I took part in an Introduction to Mindfulness group last year.
“I had heard so much about how mindfulness helps at times of high anxiety and despair and wanted to find out more.
“At FORCE we are proud to be able to offer advice on how mindfulness can support you through your diagnosis, treatment and beyond and, with regular practice, the benefits can lead to decreased levels of stress, fear and sadness.”
