Prescription for a better experience

Hilary Mitchell is exceptionally well placed to highlight the ways in which clinicians can make a diagnosis of cancer and its treatments a better experience for patients. Hilary is an Oral Surgeon at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton where her role includes screening patients for mouth cancer and preparing them for surgery or radiotherapy. So it was all the more shocking when she was diagnosed with cancer in the very part of her body she has dealt with every day of her working life for the last 20 years. In this film she talks to FORCE Cancer Charity Information Manager Annie Kerr about dealing with diagnosis, treatment and its side-effects to better inform clinicians and medical students dealing with cancer patients.
