Top pub’s recipe for success boosts FORCE
An East Devon recipe book has now raised over £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity.
Launched in February, The Jack Cook Book’ tells the 24-year story that has seen The Jack in the Green at Rockbeare transformed from a dilapidated roadside pub into somewhere consistently rated by The Good Food Guide, the AA and Michelin.
Written by Head Chef Matthew Mason, the 176-page book features a supporting cast of suppliers, customers and friends and for the enthusiastic home cook there are 42 easy-to-follow recipes spanning 8 different chapters with helpful tips throughout.
As part of the pub’s ongoing support for local charities £5 from every copy sold is being given to Exeter based FORCE Cancer.
Owner Paul Parnell commented: “This book is something I have always wanted to do, something Matthew thoroughly deserves and something we can all be proud of not just a recipe book but a documentation of our journey over nearly 25 years. We feel very passionate about giving back to the local community that we have the privilege of living in and FORCE is a charity very close to our heart.”
The first £1,000 has now been presented to Charity Fundraiser Naomi Cole pictured here alongside James Dart, who recently become the latest stockist of the book.
It is available to buy from Darts Farm at Topsham, Christopher Piper Wines in Ottery St Mary, The Five Bells in Clyst Hydon and from The Jack in the Green at Rockbeare.
Matthew will be holding a book signing at Darts Farm on Sunday June 5th between 12 and 2pm for anyone who would like to come along.
