Still time to join in knockout day of fun

There’s still time to sign up for It’s A Knockout and raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity.

The fiesta of fun is taking place on Saturday September 3 at Topsham Rugby Club.

Up to 72 teams of 10 can take part in games based on the popular TV show with huge, colourful inflatables, crazy costumes, comical props, water and plenty of bubbles.

The 2015 event was a great success as businesses, clubs and groups of friends tackled the 12-game spectacular in fancy dress costumes including cavemen, Hawaiian hula dancers, bumblebees and Minions.

Computer support and training company AME Solutions from Exeter were among the first to put their names down for 2016.

Sales Director Steve Westaway said: “What at fantastic day, filled with lots of laughs and entertaining, crazy games. Our company took part as a team and dressed up as superheroes to raise money for such an amazing charity. They all loved it so much, we signed up straight away for this year’s event.”

Alison Vassilaki and her team from all over Devon and Somerset will also be back.

“Team Noddy had the most amazing time last year,” she said. “What made it so special for me was seeing so many people that had all been affected by cancer, in one way or another, either personally or connected to, looking so strong, so healthy and having fun again. It just shows how many people FORCE reaches! Keep up the great work.”

Last year’s winners were from St Peter’s School in Exeter.

“Reigning champions – we have to defend our trophy! We take part in lots of FORCE events, raising money for a fantastic charity. Really well organised events and brilliant community spirit in all events,” said team captain Catherine Holt.

There are a few changes for this year. Topsham Rugby Club are offering full use of their facilities with extra food and drink available and there will be a bouncy castle for children.

“Last year was fantastic and we have made some improvements that we hope will make this year even better,” said FORCE Head of Fundraising Sarah Daniels. “There’s masses of parking on site, more catering available and something for the children – we’ve tried to make it a great experience for participants and spectators alike. It promises to be a great family day out.”

The event is sponsored by Francis Clark with additional support from Bradleys Estate Agents, Gilbert Stephens and Exeter Physio. Registration is from 9:30am, the games start at 11am and the days finishes by around 5pm after a prize giving for every team.

Entry fee is £30 per person for teams of 10. To book your team’s place contact the FORCE fundraising team on 01392 402875 or email forcefr@forcecancercharity.co.uk
