RD&E staff raise funds for FORCE

Staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised more than £490 for FORCE after fundraising at their annual Extraordinary People Awards evening.

The Winner of Winners event, held at the Research Innovation Learning and Development (RILD) building, was a celebration of all the extraordinary RD&E staff who go the extra mile for patients and colleagues every day.

Staff from across the Trust received awards for achievements including Excellent Care, Exceptional Leader and Excellence in Values and Behaviours.

The glittering event was hosted by special guests Henry Slade and Kai Horstmann from the Exeter Chiefs and was attended by scores of staff along with RD&E Governors and Non-Executive Directors.

As well as celebrating selected individuals and teams who have made a difference over the year, staff were also keen to give something back to a charity close to their hearts.

They chose to support FORCE, a charity which provides invaluable support to the hospital, with a silent auction and prize draw on the night.

Top prizes included a luxury food hamper and vouchers in the raffle, and two signed Exeter Chiefs shirts were auctioned off to the highest bidder in the silent auction.  They raised £492 in total.

RD&E Chief Executive Suzanne Tracey presented their fundraising cheque to FORCE CEO Meriel Fishwick and Community Fundraiser Naomi Cole at the hospital.

Suzanne Tracey said: “FORCE is a charity that we work very closely with and so we were delighted to be able to support them with our Extraordinary People prize draw. It was a great evening celebrating just some of our inspirational staff members and I’m proud that we were able to combine this with supporting such a worthy cause.”

“We are proud to be recognised by staff at the RD&E and these funds will help provide additional, non-clinical support to more local people affected by cancer,” said Meriel Fishwick.
