Film night raises funds for RBL and FORCE
A village film night staged as part of the events to mark the centenary of the World War I armistice has raised nearly £1,000 for charities supporting military veterans and cancer patients.
Residents in Kenton arranged a special screening of the hugely popular film War Horse, a story written by Devon author Michael Morpurgo, which raised £980 and has been donated to the Royal British Legion and our Kenton Friends of FORCE group.
The film night was organised by local councillor Alan Connett along with Kenton Friends of FORCE and made possible through sponsorship from Fraser & Wheeler estate agents in Dawlish and a community grant from Devon County Council.
Cllr Connett said:” It was a great evening and the film, shown in the Victory Hall in Kenton, proved a very popular choice. I thought we might raise a few hundred pounds so we are all delighted to be able to send off nearly £1,000 shared between these two excellent charities, the Royal British Legion and FORCE.”
