Bike Shed backing boosts our shop

Crediton Bike Shed has stepped up its backing for FORCE.

Bike Shed already sponsors the three major fundraising cycle events staged by FORCE each year – The Nello, Autumn Storm and Santa Cycle.

Now staff at its showroom and workshops in Union Road are using their skills to check over bicycles donated to the charity.

FORCE is given bikes in various states of repair and the Bike Shed boys have agreed to give them a safety inspection before they go on sale at the charity’s shop in Exeter.

“It’s great that we are able to help FORCE by safety checking bikes to make them rideable as an affordable way to get children and adults cycling,” said Simon Shirley-Smith, shop manager at Crediton Bike Shed, which also has outlets in Exeter and Barnstaple.

FORCE Head of Income Generation Sarah Daniels said: “The team at Bike Shed are always eager to support FORCE. It was really great when they said they would help our shop by looking over bikes which have been donated to us. Bikes with a seal of approval from Bike Shed – great stuff!”

The next FORCE event backed by Bike Shed is the Santa Cycle on Saturday November 26 and there are still places available.

One hundred cyclists in Santa suits ride from Topsham to Exmouth on the Exe Estuary Trail and return via boat.

The cost is £15 for adults and £7.50 for children under 16 to include a wear-and-keep Santa suit.

The ride starts from Topsham Rugby Club at 12:30pm.

The cruise back up the estuary aboard the Pride of Exmouth leaves at 2pm with hot drinks and mince pies on board.

Entry forms are available from the events page on the FORCE website – www.forcecancercharity.co.uk/events – or from our Support and Information Centre in the grounds of the RD&E.
