Jenny tackles another walking endurance challenge

FORCE chair of trustees Jenny Forrest is tackling another long distance walking challenge to raise money for our charity.

She will be taking part in the Flower of Suffolk Hundred from May 24-26, aiming to complete a 100-mile route within 48 hours.

Jenny, a consultant oncologist at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, has set herself a target of raising £1,500.

“As a clinical oncologist and Trustee at FORCE I appreciate all the help and support that FORCE provides for patients and families touched by cancer in Devon,” she said.

The annual Long Distance Walkers Association event is being staged in East Anglia for the first time with the start and finish in Ipswich.

Record

As part of her training, Jenny completed this year’s Shropshire Way 80km walk with 2,500m of ascents on a beautiful, sunny day with a cool breeze.

It was hard and dry underfoot, unlike last year when the course looked more like paddy fields. The conditions clearly suited Jenny, who covered the distance in 16 hours and 30 minutes, a record time for her.

She has raised thousands of pounds for FORCE through her amazing determination and stamina.

She also came up with the of Laps of Honour for FORCE event during COVID in 2020, when staff from the Oncology Department at the RD&E raised £8,781.15 by completing circuits of the hospital’s Wonford site.

Everyone at FORCE wishes Jenny good luck for her latest challenge.
