About

Crediton Friends of FORCE are raffling a beautiful quilt made by the incredibly talented Yeoford Yarns in memory of Martin Cooper, former FORCE patron, cancer surgeon and Medical Director of the Royal Devon University Hospital.

Yeoford Yarns meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Yeoford Village Hall. They sewed the quilt, which measures 195cm x 216cm in honour of Martin, who died in November 2018.

Martin became patron of FORCE in 2014 and brought a wealth of expertise in cancer care to the role. He retired as medical director of the RDUH after a remarkable career in healthcare. He was also a former Director of the Peninsula Cancer Network and Clinical Director of Cancer Services – Exeter. He helped get the FORCE support centre built in 2004, recognising a huge need for care and compassionate support in Devon. He believed in an holistic approach to the care of cancer patients, which led him to champion FORCE.

The winner of the quilt draw will be announced at the Crediton Friends of FORCE coffee morning on the 1st November 2024.
