Run for FORCE this spring
Calling all runners – and anyone looking for a challenge over the next few months.
There are three options to lace up your trainers and join Team FORCE in 2025.
We have partnered with the organisers of three very distinctive events that offer a variety of challenges.
First up is the five or 10 mile Power Run on Saturday April 5 at Powderham Castle –https://forcecancercharity.co.uk/events-calendar/power-run/
Next is the Jurassic Coast 10K, starting and finishing in Budleigh Salterton, on Saturday May 3 – https://forcecancercharity.co.uk/events-calendar/jurassic10k
Finally there’s the Great West Run 10K or half marathon around the streets of Exeter and beyond on Sunday May 25 – https://forcecancercharity.co.uk/great-west-run-2025/
Amazing
FORCE is partnering with City Runs for the Power Run at Powderham. The multi-terrain course is specially designed to ignite your adventurous spirit and allows you to run along tracks and trails not normally available.
FORCE has 20 free places in the run with a minimum fundraising ask of £50.
Mandy Lucas took part last year because she wanted to give back after the support she received from FORCE.
“After my breast cancer diagnosis in November 2022, FORCE was there for me every step of the way – from cups of tea to physio sessions and so much more. Running the Power Run at Powderham was a milestone for me, a way to give back and say I’m back!
“I raised £233 for FORCE, and it felt amazing to know that I was supported by the community that helped me through my toughest times. The camaraderie and support on the day was unforgettable!”
Beautiful
The Jurassic Coast 10K returns for the first time since 2019. It’s 20 years since organiser Jane Newman, a well-known local runner and professional physiotherapist, staged her first charity run in the beautiful settings of River Otter.
There have been a total of 11 JC10Ks in aid of FORCE and the event, one of the most scenic 10k’s in the country, has grown in popularity.
Jane said: “The Jurassic Coast Team are so excited to bring the JC 10K and children’s event back in 2025. We have had a break to establish a fantastic new children’s route, now 2.5 Km. All ages from 4-14 welcome.
“Anyone over the age of 15 can enter the Jurassic Coast 10k. This is still the wonderful original route, from 20 years ago! We are hoping to raise our PB amount for FORCE this year from one single event. We have two very generous sponsors – Pencarrie providing a t-shirt for each runner and Peak Physio, who will be providing post event massage and prizes as well as much more.
“Hope to see you there! Enter soon to avoid disappointment. Happy running!”
FORCE has free places in the run with a minimum fundraising ask of £50.
Support
More than 600 runners have already signed up to compete for FORCE in this year’s Great West Run.
We’re hoping to smash the £100,000 raised in 2024 – more money for FORCE to offer free support for local people dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
We offer free places as part of Team FORCE with a minimum fundraising ask of £90.
As well as helping our runners reach their fundraising target, we offer plenty of support on the big day and our partners are also on hand with advice to get you ready for your run.
Experienced coach Hannah Brown from City Runs is providing a GWR training group for FORCE runners. There’s more information at https://www.city-runs.co.uk/our-run-groups/#force
Motion in Heavitree, which combines osteopathy and physiotherapy treatments with expert fitness and performance coaching, will be at the end of the event for all FORCE runners as well as supporting with injury prevention advice prior to the event – https://motion-clinic.co.uk/running-myths-injury-risk-great-west-run-tips/
There will be opportunities to visit the FORCE Support and Information Centre in Exeter in the build up to the GWR to hear more about the work we do and how your fundraising makes such a massive difference to people in our community.
Hannah Brown and representatives from Motion will also be there to advise on preparation for your run.
