FORCE cancer awareness day in Princesshay
FORCE Cancer Charity is staging its next event in Princesshay this week as part of a partnership with one of Exeter’s leading shopping and dining centres.
A Urology Awareness Day is being held on Friday September 14 when teams from FORCE and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital will be in Bedford Square from 11am to 3pm.
In 2016 the number of urological cancer cases reported nationally were:
- Prostate – 40,489
- Kidney – 9,215
- Bladder – 8,437
- Testicular – 1,976
RD&E Clinical Nurse Specialists Karen Green and Moira Anderson will be in Princesshay to answer questions and offer advice.
Representatives from FORCE will be alongside them to let people know about the face-to-face support available locally to anyone affected by cancer.
FORCE is Princesshay’s Charity of the Year for 2018, a link that offers one of the region’s most respected support charities the opportunity to raise the profile of cancer services in Exeter by staging awareness days in the heart of the city throughout the year plus great fundraising potential.
A presence in Princesshay throughout 2018 is helping FORCE raise the £1.7million needed every year to maintain the services it offers to thousands of local people.
The charity funds a local programme of cancer research, buys equipment to improve patient care at the RD&E and runs a Support and Information Centre in Exeter and weekly services in Tiverton, Okehampton and, from September 14, Honiton.
