FORCE will again have stands at three of Devon’s most popular agricultural shows this summer so please come and say hello.
We will be at the Mid Devon Show on Saturday July 22, Honiton Show on Thursday August 3 and Okehampton Show on Thursday August 10.
Staff and volunteers will be on our stand at each show to provide help, information and advice to anyone affected by cancer.
They will also signpost people to the variety of services on offer at our outreach centres in Tiverton and Okehampton and at the charity’s Support and Information Centre in the Grounds of the RD&E Hospital in Exeter.
For the fourth year running our stand at Honiton will also include a mole check clinic.
A team of dermatology specialists, led by consultant Dr Tony Downs, will be there to offer confidential help and advice.
Hundreds of people have taken advantage of a free health check from the team since the team first joined FORCE at the show in 2014.
Most had the all clear but a number of possible melanomas, basal cell carcinomas and cases of actinic keratosis (sun damage) were identified.
The team is particularly keen to see members of the farming community for whom chronic exposure to the sun is an occupational hazard.
