Trustee Jenny set for massive walking challenge
FORCE trustee Dr Jenny Forrest is all set to…
FORCE remains a significant and important source of support for people in Devon affected by cancer, despite the impact of COVID-19. The virus has brought extra layers of anxiety and distress for those living with cancer or dealing with a new cancer diagnosis.
FORCE has continued to provide free cancer support and information throughout the pandemic, face-to-face whenever we could or by phone and video link if that better served those needing our help. Over 10,000 sessions offering a variety of support were delivered between March 2020 and April 2021.
Our services have not changed but the way people can get support has. Counselling including bereavement and family support, our nurse led information service, physio and exercise programmes, benefits advice, support and education groups and wig fitting service are all available face to face but also via video and phone calls now.
One of our greatest challenges in this recovery period is getting the message out that our main Support Centre in Exeter is fully open. If you are able to spread this news in your community, we would be very grateful.
We will be working hard over the coming months to raise the funds to restart our much valued face to face support in community locations and our Christmas campaign – Give a Gift is just one way that you can help.
Making a one-off donation will help FORCE support someone affected by cancer right now. Donate to our Give a Gift campaign.
Donating on a regular basis allows us to plan for the future more effectively and with greater confidence. Making a regular gift - monthly, quarterly or annually - is an easy and convenient way to make a difference to so many lives.
Giving a gift in memory is a lovely way to honour someone special. You can do this by setting up a tribute page with Just Giving.
However large or small, you can make a difference. Make hope your legacy by remembering FORCE in your Will.
Grab a festive bargain at our shop in Heavitree. Open Monday to Saturday 10:30am to 4pm.
How about organising a Christmas raffle at work or in your community? Encourage local businesses to donate prizes or visit our charity shop in Heavitree for some great bargains.
Not doing Christmas cards this year? Why not organise a festive message board at work and invite colleagues to write messages for a small donation to FORCE.
What about organising a living advent calendar in your area? Whether it’s just on your street or several in your community, unveil a new window display every night for 24 days leading up to Christmas. Sell a map of the locations and create some festive cheer as well as raising funds for FORCE.
How about organising a Secret Santa this year and heading to our FORCE shop in Heavitree to buy your gifts?
We sell all sorts of things that have been donated to us including clothing and accessories, electricals, toys and games, music and DVDs and a variety of household goods.
The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10:30am to 4:00pm.
Who doesn’t look forward to wearing a silly Christmas jumper? It’s a great excuse to be a kid for the day as well as get everyone together and kick start the festive spirit. Ask for a donation and perhaps organise a prize for the best festive jumper.
