Countdown begins to Classics Galore! 2017

Save the date! The Classics Galore! 2017 concert is just one year away.

Planning is now well underway for one of the most popular events on Devon’s musical calendar.

Classics Galore! 2017 will be held at the University of Exeter Great Hall on Saturday November 18.

It will be the sixth time that 200 top musicians and singers from around the area have come together to put on an evening of popular classical music with a Proms style finale.

The concerts have so far raised £68,600 for FORCE, which continues to support Classics founder Dick Passmore and his wife, Posy.

The former Exeter policeman has set an overall target of £100,000 from the concerts, which have been held every two years since 2007.

Musical director Malcolm Matthews from Tipton St John will again conduct the concert with an orchestra featuring musicians from across Devon plus the South West Comms Band from Lympstone and 120 singers from Exeter’s St David’s Players and the Ottery St Mary Choral Society.

Patrons will again be able to enjoy dinner before the concert and extra buses will be laid on in 2017 to assist travel between university car parks and the Great Hall.

Full details of ticket availability and booking arrangements will be announced in the New Year.

Tickets will go on sale next summer.
